Hello Bisons Booster Club members, family and friends,

This is your Booster Club First Vice-President reporting from West Melbourne, Florida. IN OTHER NEWS: Our local Florida Today paper sports section includes a half page of highlights and summaries from all the Major League spring training games that are played the previous day. The officials from the city of Orlando announced today that it has lost several million dollars in tourist money because at least 3 major conventions have canceled their events due to the threat of the coronavirus despite that fact that Orlando and the surrounding county have no record of any cases so far.  The city and the State of Florida are working closely with the attractions in Orlando to do everything they can to prevent cases among visitors to the popular sites. As in the Tampa area, local colleges and universities are restricting travel by student groups outside of this area. TRIVIA ANSWERS: 1. In addition to pitching for the Blue Jays and the Mets, Marcus Stroman initiated HDMH (Height Doesn't Measure Heart), a clothing line created to inspire and encourage society while motivating youth to overcome adversity. 2. In 97 games with the Syracuse Mets in 2019, Rivera set career highs in home runs (25), RBI (73), runs (53) and total bases (178). BACK PAGE: Friday is an early dismissal day in the Brevard County Schools which means I leave school at 1:00 PM, just about 10 minutes before the students are dismissed for the weekend. Here is another bonus report from Paul Synor.

Mary and I attended a game in Sarasota today between the Twins and Orioles. We also had a friend with us who lives in our complex and is from Minnesota. We and he were satisfied that the game ended in a tie, 3 - 3.

The game began at 3:05 pm, an unusual time for a game start in Sarasota. Unlike the other games  previously reported by me, this game was less filled by offense and more by lack of offense. The most offense was contributed by Twins DH, and ex Os star, Nelson Cruz who was 3 for 3 with a solo HR and 2 singles. With the game tied at 3 in the bottom of the 9th, ex Bison Rich Urena was at bat with one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Unfortunately, he struck out. He swung at a pitched ball that most of us thought was out of the strike zone. However, the umps decision prevailed. Urena was called out and the next batter failed to drive home the winning run so he score became tied. Both managers had previously decided that the game would end after 9 innings, So, the final score became, Twins 2 and Os 2. Our next regularly scheduled game is Friday, 3/13 when the Blue Jays face the Os in Sarasota. However, we may attend the Rays vs Braves game at Cool Today Park on 3/7. I will share my thoughts after each game.

Thanks, Paul Synor
