The Blue Jays have been the hottest team in major-league baseball over the past month, going 28-11 since May 28, including a recent 10-game winning streak that vaulted them past the New York Yankees and into first-place in the American League East.

“It’s exciting,” shortstop Bo Bichette said when asked what it’s like coming to the ballpark when the team is playing like it has been. “When you play like this you start to really believe that you can do something special and it makes it really fun coming to the field.”

Toronto has been getting contributions throughout their roster during their hot streak, as different players are stepping up each night in key moments.

“I think this is the most complete team I’ve been on, probably, in terms of everybody being a part of winning,” Bichette said. “Everybody feels that and we believe in each other. Like I said, it’s exciting to come to the field.”

Bichette has been doing his part during the team’s recent surge. A knee injury kept him out of Toronto’s four-game sweep of the Yankees last week except for one pinch-hitting appearance, but he’s returned as one of the Blue Jays’ hottest hitters, slashing .391/.481/.609 with a home run and a 1.090 OPS in six games since returning to the lineup.

“I feel great,” he said. “Long season. I feel like I’ve gone through some ups and downs this year. I’ve felt really good at times and not so good at times. But right now, I feel good and just trying to carry that through the break and get some rest and see what I can do in the second half.”
