Will Robertson had a standout season for the Bisons in 2024. After homering in his first game with the Herd he never looked back, finishing the season with a team leading 71 RBIs and tied for the team lead in home runs with 19.
“I think it’s always kind of refreshing to get out there and play and feel like you belong,” he said from the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Dunedin, Florida. “I put together some good stretches and then also had some difficult stretches. I think that’s what you’re trying to clean up. I think all in all it was a learning experience, but I think it’s nice to reflect and kind of know that your best can play.”

Last season was Robertson's first at the Triple-A level after spending 2023 at Double-A New Hampshire.
“I think the professionalism of the pitchers and how you definitely have to go in with a plan,” he said of what he learned in his first season at the highest level of the minor leagues. “Because if you don’t, if you’re not sold on your plan, then they’re going to expose you pretty quick. I think just being confident in your plan and being committed to it is definitely the biggest part.”
Robertson, a Missouri native who attended Creighton University, worked hard in the offseason with a focus on putting more balls in play in 2025.
“I definitely had a high strikeout percentage,” he explained. “So just focusing on being more consistent with making contact. I feel like if I can make contact, I feel like I have enough power. If I can just put the bat on the ball, good things will happen. So, that was kind of my main goal.”
He also provided some insight into his offseason training.
“I think it’s a process,” he said. “You definitely start ramping up in November and you kind of do your technical stuff, your mechanical stuff, then in January and leading up to spring training, you get more into the compete and game mode – that’s more like live BP or fast machine work and stuff like that. So, definitely as you get closer to spring training there is definitely switch from a training aspect to more focusing on games, rather than focusing on technical stuff. Just like today, first live AB’s just trying to get into the game mode instead of the more technical part of it.”

Excited for the upcoming season, Robertson is thrilled to be back with his teammates at the Blue Jays’ spring training complex.
“I think for me it’s always the initial few days, getting to see your teammates that you haven’t seen in a while,” he said when asked what his favorite part of spring training was. “Getting to share how their offseason went and see how everybody’s doing. Just that locker room mentality, I think that’s something that we really love after an offseason of four or five months of not seeing each other. That’s definitely my favorite part of it, getting to see all the guys again.”
